OUR FOUNDING STORY: FROM RHYTM TO LEGACY

“OVER 50 YEARS OF HAITIAN MUSIC, ARTS LEGACY & UNITY IN MIAMI”

Through Art & Music we build trust to become more happier and friendlier with each other!”

On November 13, 2024, the members of “The Pioneers of Haitian Music in Miami” (PHMM) met to discuss the future of organization. The members present were Naser Chery, Renand Chery, Mac Arthur Leonce, John Jack Hurlston, Lionel Nicoleau, Antoine Louis and Marc Joseph. These seven members have been part of the Miami music and cultural development over five decades.  The first meeting was decided specifically to honor all the Haitian Musicians in Miami who started the music movement. Months later, they have decided to add the cultural “Arts” as part of their goals to honor the Haitian Cultural Arts and everyone involved who supported the Haitian cultural movement all over South Florida.

The Pioneers of Haitian Arts & Music in Miami (PHAMM) present and future goals are to influence the younger generation to recognize and appreciate the precursors of the development of the Haitian Culture all over Florida. PHAMM want to leave a legacy that our children can be proud of their heritage while we are passing the baton to them (the young Haitian generation) as future guardians of our Haitian cultural heritage. La Jenès jwét pral pou nou!

PHAMM meets weekly to decide our future events and recruit committee supporters to keep the beacon of light shining. On January 18th, 2025, PHAMM held a free event at Naser’s place to introduce the organization’s plan to hold a future gala event soon to honor some pf our designees for an award. A second free event will be held on July 26, 2025, to continue to make others aware of our future plans and to recruit volunteers to assist our future honorable intentions.

PHAMM welcomes everyone to come and check us out!
